Chief Executive

One canonical meaning

The senior executive who heads a statutory board’s administration and management and works with its board, parent ministry and the wider Public Service.

Cross-government

Example: “Please seek CE’s approval” means the head of the statutory board, not the most senior person currently online.

Also known as: CE, Chief Executive Officer, CEO

Context: The exact title varies by statutory board; some use Chief Executive, Chief Executive Officer or Managing Director.
